Compression Pipework Compression Pipework

Know as Alkathene or Blue-Poly – a semi-rigid system where the pipes are supplied in coils.

Pipes are made from Medium density polyethylene (MDPE) and the fittings are generally made from polypropylene (PP), both with a maximum temperature rating of 40C.

It is not possible to solvent-weld these plastics, therefore pipe fitting connections are compression (push-fit) that have threaded end options for connecting to other systems, appliances etc. Generally, these compression fittings can be dismantled and re-used.

Sizes available from 16 – 110mm with pressure ratings up to 16 bar (230 PSI).

Quick and easy to install, low cost and will not corrode, and have a wide range of uses on farm but is generally used for water systems – dirty to potable water.

Should not be exposed to sunlight and sub-zero temperatures for long periods of time as this can affect its properties and performance – simply lagging will combat this.
